Bailey was adopted!!! We are so thrilled that this AniMeals cassavnova will be in his forever “Home for the Holidays”!!! COLD WEATHER IS HERE…..

Along with November in Montana comes bitter cold winter weather.  If it’s too cold for you outside, it’s too cold for your pet.  Please give your pets shelter this winter and check their water regularly to make sure it isn’t frozen.  If you see your pet with the following symptoms, get him/her to a warm, dry place IMMEDIATELY:

• shivering;
• lethargy;
• muscle stiffness;
• lack of co-ordination;
• low heart and breathing rates;
• fixed and dilated pupils;
• collapse;
• coma

You can prevent hypothermia in your pet by practicing the following:

• don’t leave your pet outside for long periods of time without letting him/her have access to a warm dry shelter;
• if you do take your pet out for exercise during cold weather try to do it little and often and consider investing in a coat and booties for your pet;
• be particularly wary if your pet gets wet whilst you are out walking as the wind chill factor can cool him down much more quickly than you think (consider taking a towel with you on your walk so you can dry your pet off as you’re walking); and
• if your pet is sensitive to the cold only take him outside when he/she needs to relieve themselves.

UPDATED ANIMEALS THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY HOURS

Upon re-thinking, we have decided that we are going to do everything we can to get these kitties into forever homes!  So, we will be open during our regular shelter hours with only being closed on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday 11/25).  Here a summary for Thanksgiving week:

SUNDAY 11/21: CLOSED (regular off day)

MONDAY 11/22: CLOSED (regular off day)

TUESDAY 11/23: OPEN (8-5)

WEDNESDAY 11/24: OPEN (8-5)

THURSDAY 11/25: CLOSED (Happy Thanksgiving!)

FRIDAY 11/26: OPEN: 8-5 (regular hours)

SATURDAY 11/27: OPEN 11-4 (regular hours)

THURSDAY AT ANIMEALS!

So, we have our Thanksgiving holiday hours posted on the website (www.animeals.com).  We will be closed next Thursday (11/25), Friday (11/26), Saturday (11/27) and also on our regular off days Sunday and Monday.  We hope all of you have a phenomenal Thanksgiving weekend, and we encourage you to come to AniMeals and adopt if you are looking to add a new member to complete your family in time for the holidays!

UPDATE ON KEELA:  I spoke with Keela’s new owner yesterday, and she is doing really well in her new home!!! She found her forever home!  She seems to not really care for the other cat that lives there, but they don’t fight or anything like that.  She kind of wanders around and does her own thing until it is family time on the couch — then she curls up with her new parents and is such a sweetheart!   HOORAY FOR HAPPY ENDINGS!!!

A Thankful Thursday for AniMeals

UPDATE: Andre recovered quite well from his tooth extraction yesterday.  He immediately wanted to roam around the shelter upon his arrival back at AniMeals and has a healthy appetite.  He seems to not be in any pain whatsoever.  Hooray!

AniMeals Update – Wednesday 11-10-10

Good morning AniMealers!

Things are going well here at the shelter today.  We are so genuinely appreciative of the donations we receive, and thank you so much for all of your generosity.

In animal news, Andre is going to the vet to get a tooth removed today.  Poor guy will feel better once he doesn’t have the pain of the infected tooth though!
