THANK YOU to the MLASR Crew

The phenomenal crew that maintains the Montana Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue (MLASR) confronts mother nature’s fury consisting of biting cold air, blinding snow and icy winds every day while they are outside feeding  the hundreds of animals, maintaining the grounds, repairing fences and equipment as needed and everything else that needs to be done.  AniMeals has been at the sanctuary now for over a week, and we have not witnessed a single complaint from any one of these guys.  Their admirable dedication to making sure the animals are cared for 24/7 is so incredibly selfless.  A HUGE thank you to (L to R) Shawn Watts (Missoula), Larry Davis (Hot Springs), Glen Chapin (Idaho), Jeff Moltzen (Missoula) and Jake Davis (Hot Springs) for your extreme generosity and devotion to the animals of MLASR.  You are all angels.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE AND ARE DOING!

The Daily Grind at MLASR

A trip into town to get a replacement hydraulic hose at Hot Springs Irrigation Supply, a visit to the office of Dr. Michael Marrinan DVM, a search for two-way radios at Gambles (we are looking for four of them….hey, does anybody have any to donate so that we can have more efficient communication here? ;-D), with a final stop at Buck’s, the local grocery store in Hot Springs, were just a few of the completed tasks listed on our agenda today at the sanctuary.  The temperatures are dropping quickly, but the snow seems to have subsided for the time being.  We did our laundry tonight for the first time since our arrival last Tuesday!  The last load is in the dryer as I am typing this!  After a satisfying dinner prepared by the one and only Karyn Moltzen, we are are winding down, preparing for the end of the night as New Year’s Eve slowly approaches us.  We thank you all for your ongoing support and appreciate all of the assistance we have received from everybody.  You all seriously rock.  Happy Day Before New Year’s Eve everybody! :-)   Check back tomorrow!

ANIMEALS NEEDS HELP!

We are looking for help at the AniMeals shelter in Missoula!! We are seeking volunteers who can answer the phones, run errands, data entry, etc.  If you only have limited availability, that works too!  :-)   PLEASE call 406.721.4710 and talk to Jessie or Steph!  We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your help!!!

SNOW SNOW SNOW

The sky is dumping a lot of snow out here at the sanctuary, and the wind is blowing it around.  It is messy out there, and the crew is working hard to keep the animals out of the elements using what we have available.  Once again, we can’t even emphasize how vital the sanctuary workers and all of the support of everybody have been in keeping things going while the details of rehoming are sorted out.  Thank you everybody for your selflessness and for caring so much about these animals.  You are all SO amazing.  Stay tuned here and www.facebook.com/animeals for updates.

THE FIRST TRANSPORT OF LLAMAS!

A HUGE thank you goes to Dick and Kim Murphy of Bitter Creek Llamas (http://www.bittercreekllamas.com/) for driving the first group of llamas off the sanctuary grounds and into foster care!!! We are preparing for the storm mother nature is sending our way, and this extraordinary couple took time out of their lives to transport these 20 llamas to foster care.  They took 10 mommas and 10 babies with them and are coming back as the weather permits to help for as long as it takes.  THANK YOU SO MUCH DICK AND KIM MURPHY FOR YOUR EXTREME GENEROSITY AND LOVE FOR ANIMALS!!! :-)

PREPARING FOR THE STORM

Hello AniMealers!!!

The calm before the storm…that’s what this appears to be.  Hot Springs is under a winter weather advisory.  It has been snowing on and off since last night.  The wind picked up and has now died down again for the time being.  We have an awesome crew of helpers here putting up tarps to keep the mommas and babies warm in their barn, and the increase in air temperature was IMMEDIATELY noticed!  Emptying trailers, shoveling, continually repairing fences and various other chores to help prepare for the upcoming storm are also being accomplished on the grounds as I’m typing this.  The babies and the mommas are together and separated from the males.  That alone was a major task that the phenomenal crew here at the sanctuary conquered.

None of this could be happening without the direction, know-how and nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic of our fabulous  Director of Operations on the sanctuary grounds.  A huge thank you goes to Larry Davis.  FANTASTIC JOB EVERYBODY, AND THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR DEDICATION AND SUPPORT IN EVERY FORM!

We can’t emphasize enough that we literally couldn’t do this without you.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

LLAMA LOVIN!

The wonderful people who own Rocky Timbers Alpacas (www.rockytimbersalpacas.com), Larry and Tamberly Davis and family of Hot Springs, are caring for a beautiful 2-3 week old baby girl that was found hungry, cold and without her momma on Christmas Eve.  This pretty little llama took over their living room, and is now being nursed back to health by the entire family.  Thank you so much to the Davis family for their generous hearts and for caring for this little girl.

MLASR UPDATE

We can see the sky!!! These poor animals have been weathering the cold and freezing fog day in and day out, never getting a chance to warm up.  Mother nature has been brutal, but she relieved us all today with a glimpse of the sky!  Most of the freezing fog has lifted!

ANIMEALS WEBSITE INFORMATION

Please be patient while I do not have access to edit the AniMeals website from the Montana Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue.  Updates are posted regularly on Facebook and the blog.  Stay tuned for more pictures and information on the animals and updates on rehoming. THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYBODY FOR YOUR SUPPORT…..YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!!

Sincerely,

Angela, animeals.com Webmaster
